Weeks 5 to 7 are termed the curiosity period. Puppies have the lowest fear and the highest acceptance during this time. Although we have added many new situations for the pups over the past few weeks, we are busy now to keep their days stimulating. We are lucky at the timing for this litter, as the weather in California has allowed for fun filled days outside the house. Running water through a hose, sprinklers, baby pools, and wagons have added to their days this week. I have made a wobble board, which is useful for beginning agility training, but I think any dog-especially puppies can benefit from. I have a small diameter board cut into a circle which I have attached a small metal bowl to the center of one side. When placed on the lawn, bowl side down, the board will wobble as a puppy steps up onto it. All the puppies are enjoying the board and some have gotten very good at playing king of the hill and maintaining their balance as litter mates bounce around them. Here are some pictures of the group playing outside, between 5-6 weeks.
