Turning into individuals

Five weeks old. The days have gone by so fast. The puppies are becoming more individual everyday. We spend one on one time with each one so they can learn to interact separately, but the time they spend with their mother, siblings and the other house dogs is just as important for learning the social skills which will effect the rest of their lives.

Each day offers a new experience. Just like with children, often the most simple toys are the most interesting. Adding a box to climb on or an egg crate seem to be more fun than a store bought toy. Just a few short days ago I added an empty coffee can open on both ends for them to climb through. Today we added the agility tunnel to their outside adventure. The big dogs were quick to show the puppies what to do. By afternoon's end they had turned the tunnel into a new place to sleep.

Yesterday we took multiple pictures of the puppies on the grooming table. That was an adventure, trying to capture a picture of a moving object. We used cheese and peanut butter to "bait" a puppy to stand for a brief moment. While we did not expect much out the puppies doing this, we definitely need more practice on the grooming table! Here are some of the pictures.
